Read and write reviews about ICATT - The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Trinidad and Tobago. The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Trinidad and Tobago (ICATT) was established 48 years ago by an Act of Parliament in 1970. Prior to that period, there existed the Trinidad and Tobago Association of Chartered and Certified Accountants - a small grouping of professional accountants with varying designations. Members of this group lobbied government for the incorporation of a local accountancy body which would set its own examinations and regulations. While its origins were humble, the objectives of the proposed Institute were bold, and intended to forge new pathways in the local accountancy profession. Today, ICATT is the regulatory body responsible for the training, development and sustainability of the accountancy profession, through education and advocacy on matters of national interest. Active membership of the Institute stands at approximately 1,500, comprising professionals who operate in all sectors of the economy and government. ICATT adheres to the ethical code of Integrity, Objectivity, Professional Competence, Confidentiality and Professional Behaviour. ICATT is a member of the International Federation of Accountants. Trinidad and Tobago was among the first countries to fully adopt International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) in 1999 - formerly International Accounting Standards – before adopting IFRS for SMEs in 2010. ICATT has formed strategic relationships with various stakeholders, including the Government, State regulatory agencies, the Bankers Association of Trinidad and Tobago and other trade associations. We hope to forge even more robust relationships with our Members and key stakeholders to strengthen the profession and provide a voice on significant and current matters of relevance to the business community and our economy.
