The Caribbean School of Languages is located at # 92 Tragarete Road, Port-of-Spain, Trinidad. The institute is divided into three sections: the Department of Foreign Languages, the Department of Business Studies and the Department of Translation and Interpreting Services. THE DEPARTMENT OF FOREIGN LANGUAGES The Department of Foreign Languages offers courses in six (6) foreign languages (Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese, German and English for Speakers of Other Languages). The courses go from the very basic to intermediate and advanced, so no previous knowledge of the language is necessary. The communicative approach is highly emphasised in our methods. All courses prepare students for international examinations. CSL uses the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL) of the Council of Europe. Further qualifications are available at Advanced Certificate and Diploma levels (specialised programmes). These include the Diploma in Translation (English to/from Spanish) accredited by the Chartered Institute of Linguists (UK), the Diploma in Spanish for Business, the Advanced Certificate in Spanish for Business, the Advanced Certificate in Spanish for Healthcare Professionals and the Advanced Certificate in Spanish for Tourism and Hospitality offered in conjunction with the Madrid Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Universidad de Alcalá (Spain). THE DEPARTMENT OF BUSINESS STUDIES The Department of Business Studies offers certificate and diploma programmes in Marketing, Advertising, Public Relations, Business Administration, Bookkeeping and Accounting. The programmes are accredited by the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI). THE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSLATION AND INTERPRETING SERVICES The Department of Translation and Interpreting offers official translation and interpreting services in a number of foreign languages and for various purposes.
